Corn Wet Milling:
The Delta T moisture/dryer control system (more info) consistently reduces the
moisture variation of gluten, starch, germ, fiber and other products exiting Ring,
rotary, flash, spray and fluidized-bed dryers by 30% to 45%. The Delta T is
based on a unique “inside-the-dryer” moisture sensor consisting of two
temperature sensor and a mathematical model. This reduction in variation enables the mean moisture content to be increased thus increasing production,
reducing unit energy consumption and improving product quality. Capital
payback is considerably less than one year.
The Delta T effectively replaces: (1) the exhaust temperature moisture control
method (more info) that is based on a poor correlation between dryer exhaust
gas temperature; and (2) control systems that use conventional moisture
sensors located downstream from the dryer whose long dead times produce wide
variations in the exiting product moisture content.
