The Delta T moisture/dryer control system (more info) consistently reduces the
moisture variation of various mineral products from 30% to a much as 45%. The
Delta T is based on a unique “inside-the-dryer” moisture sensor consisting of two
temperature sensor and a mathematical model. This reduction in variation
enables the mean moisture content to be increased thus increasing production,
reducing unit energy consumption and improving product quality. Capital
payback is less than one year.
The Delta T effectively replaces: (1) the exhaust temperature moisture control
method (more info) that is based on a poor correlation between dryer exhaust
gas temperature and the product moisture content exiting dryers such as flash,
rotary and spray; and (2) control systems using conventional moisture sensors
located downstream from the dryer whose long dead times produce wide
variations in the exiting product moisture content.
